Sbisd Calendar 2023-24 – The Houston Independent School District Board of Education approved the proposed 2022-2023 academic calendar to add a new spring break in April and move the last day of the first semester before winter break.

The calendar includes one week of Thanksgiving break, two weeks of winter break, and one week of spring break. Students and staff will be absent on Labor Day, MLK Day, Chavez-Huerta Day, and Memorial Day. HISD will hold a fall break on October 5 and two spring breaks on April 7 and April 21.

Trustees accepted a grant from the Texas Education Agency to support the after-school program. $882,500 from Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds will be used to extend student learning in the wake of COVID-19. The funds provide support in three areas: staffing for postsecondary education, technical assistance for postsecondary planning and implementation, and high-impact learning in after school program.

Trustees accepted a separate offer from the U.S. Soccer Foundation valued at $100,000 to M.C. Williams MS. Education is through the It's Everyone's Game programs and safe places to play. Equipment and materials include one mini-pitch system with a pole for LED lights, playing boards, built-in goals, storage, seating, polycarbonate scoreboards, accessible gates ADA has an acrylic mini-pitch area with playing lines of agreed colors and school logos.

The board accepted various donations from Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. The church will donate $30,000 each to Blackshear ES, Cullen MS, Lawson MS, and Yates HS. The purpose of the donation is to book the resource rooms of each school to help needy students. Supplies include clothes, toiletries, and Metro cards. The Spring ISD Board of Trustees approved a 2021-22 Academic Calendar on Tuesday that will see students begin classes on August 11, 2021 and end school on Friday, May 26, 2022.

The approved calendar is one of the two options given to employees and the community for the inclusion of a survey that received opinions from 4, 100 people. Both options are the same except for the start and end dates of the school year and a slight difference with Spring Break.

"I want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in our calendar," said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson. "Among our community members, campus staff, parents and students, option B is the preferred option, and our board has been thoughtful in making their final decision. "

Under the approved calendar, winter break for students will begin after half a day of study on Dec. 17. on March 11, classes will resume on Monday, March 21.

Throughout the year, early student release dates include Oct. 8, Dec. On September 17 and Feb.

The ISD Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), which includes staff and teachers, provided input and guidance before the two calendar proposals were presented to the public at community research. Both options meet all state requirements for study time, including 180 days with 440 study minutes per day to build make-up days if necessary. Em. GEE!!!! Although summer is in full swing, and we've been enjoying the time in the heat, it's almost time to end summer and send the kids back to school!
