Cwu Fall 2023 Calendar – The Summer 2023 issue of Easy Weaving with Little Looms is dedicated to projects inspired by food, cooking, and eating.
A while back, I read an article about how centuries-old photographs have helped educate modern historians and plant geneticists about the evolution of various fruits and vegetables. Artists painted fruits as they looked at that time, and by studying these pictures, we can get an idea of how certain fruits and vegetables have changed in appearance over time. Some even use paintings to recover forgotten fruits and vegetables and then use that information to search long-abandoned fields for surviving plants.

Ideas for food-inspired projects include colorful towels inspired by Moroccan spice markets, a scarf the color of strawberries and kiwi, or a blanket with the colors of a rainbow of stone corn. Project inspiration can go beyond the physical appearance of food—we're still looking for projects inspired by harvesting or gathering food and cooking it. Consider a fabric basket for picking strawberries, a sturdy tote with an inkwell for the farmers market, or an apron to wear while hitting your next culinary venture. Or maybe you want to knit a piece inspired by your favorite restaurant or a fun beach picnic idea.
