Currently, options A, B, and C have been presented to the board, but the district is currently polling parents on only two options.
At the Jan. 24 board meeting, the RISD calendar committee recommended moving to mandatory protocol guidelines instead of the mandatory day guidelines in House Bill 2610. Calendar minutes must be at least 75,600 minutes, which is equivalent to 174 school days.

School Calendar / 2022 2023 School Calendar
Option A returns to school on August 10th and has a deadline of May 25th, Option B is the same as A except for the 5-day snow weekend. In option C, the return to school day is August 16th and the last day is May 26th.
Alternatives A and B are the calendar options for parents to vote on. One of the main differences between the calendars is the number of staff development days, but the 2022-23 school year is proposed to end before Memorial Day.

The RISD Calendar Committee will present its final calendar to the Board at the next Board meeting on February 15th.
