Friends Of The Nra Calendar 2023 – The goal of the Golden State Council Shooting Sports Committee is to make shooting sports programs accessible to all spectators at the Golden State Council. We have a growing list of NRA Certified Instructor/Range Officers and Archery Instructors that are will help your unit to join shooting sports. These Scouters are available to teach the shooting sports merit badges, teach NRA training courses & provide shooting opportunities for your shooting . Scouts or Venturers.Instruction can be held as part of your unit meeting or at the camp on the weekend. All equipment provided by Golden Empire Council. Let us know what you want and we will strive to make it happen in accordance with our Code of Conduct and BSA Policies.

We offer many shooting training and shooting opportunities for Scouts and Scout Leaders at three ranges (Camp Lassen, Camp Winton and NorCal) and during the 7th district sunset temporary range. Some of these events are pre-arranged and others can be scheduled accordingly. For any training course that will be organized on the day of your choice, it will need to be done 4 weeks in advance. gec-shotting-sports@

Our shooting programs are valuable resources to help youth develop self-reliance, self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, self-esteem, and sportsmanship. The discipline and self-control required to use a heavy weapon takes over other aspects of life.

Founders Celebration 2022

Our Shooting Sports Committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Golden Empire Hall 251 Commerce Circle Sacramento from 6:30-8:30 pm.

All junior scouts participating in shooting, bbguns, rifles, rifles, shotguns, airsoft, pellet guns must have a parent/guardian sign the Golden Empire Council (GEC) Shooting Sports Parent Form even if the parent they are on the border with their spies.

Any county, county, council that uses a shooting range on council property must fill out the form below and obtain a certificate from the NRA's Chief Safety Officer on the GEC Shooting Sports Committee.

Thanks to all the vendors who supported the 2021 shooting convention at Camp Lassen on Sept 10-12 2021. We had 300+ people in attendance. We received over $48,000 in donations.

Thanks to all the vendors who supported the 2019 Shooting Sports Conference at Camp Lassen on September 13-15, 2019. We had 350+ people in attendance. Save the date September 11-13, 2020 for next year's event.

Shenandoah Area Council, Bsa

The Small Government Participation Grant Program has been approved in the amount of $6,500. We are grateful for their support in the purchase of chalkboards and wall climbing equipment.

March 2020- We appreciate the continued support of the NRA and four National Rifle Assciation grants totaling $16,200. Thank you for supporting our scouts and the equipment you have provided. Everyone, please support the Friends of the NRA dinner, as this directly affects what is donated to youth programs. Thanks again!!!

March 2017- We appreciate the continued support of the NRA and 4 National Rifle Associations with a total of $14,181.79 raised today. Thanks for making our scouts smile ear-to-ear with the tools you provide. At summer camp there was great success above and below the guns! Everyone, please support the Friends of the NRA dinner, as this directly affects what is donated to youth programs. Thanks again!!!

Ideal Year Of Scouting

March 2018–We are now receiving supplies from five National Rifle Association grants totaling $23,218.96. Thanks to all the people who support Friends of the NRA to make this grant possible.

6/1/2017 Boy Scout of America Challenge $2000 MatchingGrant from National Shooting Sports Foundation awarded to Golden Empire Council. We appreciate their support in building our Airsoft shooting program. Thanks again!!!

Thanks to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for their grant of $12,270.00 to purchase shooting equipment and to Philip Martinelli and Timothy Monahan for their assistance in making this grant possible. We appreciate your support and thank you again!!!

Events For November 6

Thanks to all the vendors who supported the Aug 17-19, 2018 shooting event at Camp Lassen. Everyone enjoyed their great experiences. Thanks to Wild Bills Old Trading Post in Elk Grove and their staff for all the support we receive each year.
