Pursuant to a certificate issued by the Michigan Labor Relations Commission on April 15, 1974 and in File R74 B-70 by order of the Michigan Labor Relations Commission dated November 4, 1981 in File C76. Research Linkage Opportunities

A graduate student will not be entitled to the title of graduate student if the occupational degree is in another department or group, unless previously agreed with the department or recruiting office. The institution or qualification is sought for employment under that title.

It is understood that persons receiving the title of staff assistant include graduate students in (1) the University Library Associate Program or (2) deans of the Faculty of Letters, Sciences, and Arts in academic advisory positions. .

The University and the Union have an interest in ensuring that positions are correctly classified. If the Union identifies positions that may indicate potential job classification, the University will conduct a fair investigation of the identified position and perform a performance evaluation to determine whether the position is, in fact, classified. The university must announce the evaluation results in writing. If the university's decision determines the academic relevance of the position, the university must provide its reasons in writing to the union.

7. Term: "Semester" means Semester I (Fall), Semester II (Winter), Semester III (Spring-Summer), Semester IIIA (Spring Semester) or Semester I (Spring Semester) in accordance with the academic calendar. IIIB (Midsummer).

If there is a complaint about violation of this paragraph, in the second stage, the complaint and arbitration will be considered if it is in writing within twenty (20) days with verification of the facts. Second and third stage complaints should include a comprehensive review of all aspects of the complaint.

If the alleged violation of this article is referred to the arbitration mentioned in Section D of Article 14, the authority and competence of the arbitrator will not include matters related to attending the graduate education program of the university. The University reserves all its rights, duties, functions and obligations with this right without authority and without limitation to decide on all terms of employment and conduct the operations of the University, except in these cases. The rights, duties, obligations and responsibilities in this contract may be limited.
