Nisd School Calendar 2023-24
Nisd School Calendar 2023-24 – Bryan ISD is seeking proposals from the community to name a maintenance and transportation facility and Middle School 3, which will open to students in the 2023-2024 school year. The deadline for submitting names is 23.59. on Sunday, January 30
Candidates for maintenance and transport facilities and secondary no. 3 must be completed using this online form. Nominees must submit a one- or two-paragraph (no more than 250 words) written statement that includes biographical/historical information and rationale for the proposed name. According to board policy, the name may not only honor an individual who has made significant contributions to the region, local community, state, or country; and reflect the ideals and high standards of Bryan ISD, but considering the average No. 3 per plate, must respect the late, outstanding Texan. This is not the case with maintenance and transport facilities.

But with concerns about COVID-19, concerns about school safety and reports of teacher shortages, many parents are genuinely concerned.

Question for parents: "What is the long-term plan for the bus line?" Our bus was canceled more than 10 times last year. We tried to bring the child home from school. What do our taxes pay for if not for transportation to and from school?"

Parent's question: "Has the school's ventilation system been repaired?" Are patients screened? What improvements are being made in schools to make students feel safe in the event of an active shooter?
Parents' question: "Will the lessons be longer than usual due to the lack of teachers?" Could raising teacher pay help bring more teachers back? Are there more school police on campus every day?"

Question for parents: Will mask mandates return? What protocols apply if someone tests positive for COVID-19? Will the school start testing again?
Question for parents: "Schools like IDEA don't have crosswalks or emergency lights. Why shouldn't IDEA campuses receive the same level of traffic control measures as other public schools?

IDEA's response: "We have an internal functional team working with local city officials to develop a plan to add crosswalks/warning lights to IDEA schools that do not currently have them. These projects continue throughout the academic year and are based on the individual needs of the campus.

IDEA's response: "We believe the best school safety and security program is multi-faceted with both an emotional and physical safety component. At the beginning of the school year, several schools use the support of the police to ensure campus security.

Parent Question: "Will schools ever implement a social skills curriculum?" We have children with very poor communication skills, not to mention students with mental health issues. Schools need to be more active in creating good citizens instead of focusing on STAAR scores.
Ask parents: What other precautions do you take? How do you keep our children safe? What will change?'

MVSD's response: "MVSD is committed to providing a safe learning environment for everyone and we are always looking for ways to improve safety. This summer, a safety assessment was conducted at all eight Medina Valley ISD campuses. During this process, we met with campus administrators and staff to assess the safety of each school. We are currently adding and upgrading fences, gates, doors, locks and other security measures to ensure we are as prepared as possible for the upcoming school year.
We continue to not only follow current TEA guidelines, but also exceed them. We want our students and staff to know that they are in a safe environment when they come to school every day. We want them to be able to focus on the great learning that is happening in the classroom, and we do everything we can to help provide that environment for everyone here at MVSD.

Parent Question: "Due to current high teacher stress, increased work demands, staff turnover, and safety and health threats surrounding schools, what is MVSD doing to identify and address the mental well-being of those faculty and staff working? with our children? Due to COVID-related school closures, children's mental well-being was highlighted as the MVSD School Board key goals for the 20-21 school year, but there was no obvious way to collect baseline data, measure progress, or document any metrics.. fidelity to determine if they actually achieved or met their goal. We also want to know what MVSD can and is doing now, when there is new leadership in the district.

MVSD's response: "The safety, health and well-being of our students and staff is always a top priority. In accordance with School Board goals for 2020-2021, additional social workers have been added to our staff to allow for a dedicated social worker on each of our campuses. Our social workers also provided wellbeing support directly to our staff and this year we are also offering targeted professional development in self-care, giving staff tools to manage their emotions and actionable stress management tips.

Parent Question: "With so many districts planning to align behavior management or campuses with Positive Interventions and Supports (PBIS), student cell phone use and access to teachers and administrators is a constant concern. But given the incredible risks involved in sending our children to school, access to outside contacts is a priority for many families. How can parents help set reasonable limits on their children's phones at school while ensuring their child doesn't have to lock them up all day and have school administrators pick them up and then pay $10-$15?
MVSD's response: "Ringosa allows students to use personal cell phones for safety; however, these devices must remain turned off and out of sight for the entire school day, including all exams, unless used for prior instructional purposes approved by the administration.

Question for parents: (For Northern Hills Primary School) "The gap to the main playground. Anyone can enter this space between the gate and the fence. Is the door to the portable classroom locked during class? Are they locked from the inside or the outside or both? Anyone can enter and hide in these areas. Very concerned about a man who has been seen naked and inappropriate in the area. He was also worried about what happened in Uvalda. "We are afraid to send our kindergartener to school."
NEISD North Hills Elem. Principal's response: "We are reviewing our current campuses in preparation for the new academic year. Because safety continues to be our top priority for our students and families. All staff and families are advised that all doors to the annex are locked. Our main door in the main building remains locked during the school day. Approved personnel have appropriate keys for approved areas. Safety protocols are reviewed with staff at the beginning of the school year and updated throughout the year. If necessary, we will continue to work with the district on updates.

"We have a great PTA board this year and want to increase parent involvement to include our Watch DOG program. Our watchdogs provide extra eyes on our campus as they can walk around campus while we are in the building. If you see anything suspicious, please contact the campus or Northeast with the police department We welcome feedback and suggestions because we want our parents and families to feel safe and secure leaving their children with us during the school day.
Southwest Independent School District
NISD's response: "While polling locations have not yet been finalized, our board has approved the 2022-2023 school calendar, which will change the general election day of November 8th to a student holiday and a staff work day."

Parent Question: Is there still a bus driver shortage in Northside? Are the bus routes different because of the new high school?'
NISD's response: "NISD is still looking for bus drivers and assistant drivers for the new school year. Every summer, the district reviews all bus routes and makes the necessary adjustments. A total of 11 lines this summer
