Killeen Isd Calendar 2023-24 – (OAK, TX) – On March 28, 2021, the Red Oak ISD School Board approved the submitted administrative calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The final calendar will look very different from the one sent to ambassadors, students and parents for feedback due to changes to input and revisions to calendars issued by area DSIs.
"We are really overwhelmed by the feedback from parents, staff and even students. The first concern was implementing HB4545 to help close the gap for students who did not meet standards on the STARR exams a year ago. Next year, instead of 4-5 days of intervention for those students, we will buy the intervention into other opportunities such as summer school, Talon time, right before school, after school and even," said ROISD Superintendent Brenda Sanford .

"The second element, I actually did exercises with all the students during teacher time. "We believe that scheduling school hours to meet the needs of all students is always a priority," Sanford said.

The initial approval poll is down from last year – just 67% favorable compared to 74% previously (this was before the introduction of HB4545 and AID Education Week). We also saw an increase from 5% to 11% in wrong. We had a total of 476 respondents – 66% parents, 26% staff and 8% students.
"After the extensions, we really went back to the drawing board and looked at what each student learns each day – each cohort's progress day, holiday or break, looked at first with an intentional focus on student learning Sanford said.
"We also appreciate the impact on our staff. We have dedicated staff to move the academic needle for every student," Sanford said.

"We know some will start a week early after the long summer break, but to accommodate the grading and semester period and to maximize students' days ahead of the year, we are starting on Monday this year," Sanford added.
"In the fall, we have some special days with UIL travel because of limited bus capacity – we can't run field trips and programs to support team games at the same time," Sanford said. "Drivers can also set time limits within 24 hours."
