Cardinals To Face Georgia Tech In 2023 Kickoff Classic

As we approach the middle of the season, we're excited for spring break to arrive and time for us all to relax and enjoy a well-deserved vacation. I hope your students are getting a chance to rest and relax now, and I hope many of them will be home for spring break.

We've had a few warm days on campus and one of my favorite things to do is go out on the quad and talk to your students, meet some of the dogs that run around, and throw a football every now and then. It's great to see the campus waking up these days and enjoying the outdoors in the beautiful valley.

I'd like to share some tips if your student is going on spring break. Remind everyone of these and other family safety tips:

Sun Belt Conference

We have received requests from students to support them if they are concerned about their whereabouts or safety, so we would like to pass this on to parents. We want to make sure you have direct access to support and answers, so here's the information below to help you out. If you are concerned about a student's safety, you can request a safety check by calling the police department at (540) 568-6911. They collect the information and send it to the agent for security purposes. If Harrisonburg police need to get involved, the police will advise you on how to proceed.

Our Dean of Students is another great resource, and I want to encourage you to use the Madison Cares contact form to raise any concerns that don't require an immediate response. The Dean of Students is designed to be there to support students and can be a great resource when you have concerns or want to talk about your student's progress. You can learn more about this company and find their latest contact information on their website.

Also, while I'm pretty good on social media, posting through these platforms isn't the best way to get an answer, especially for a problem. The police station is the best place to start if you have a problem, as there are officers and dispatchers on duty 24 hours a day. Despite what you may have heard, I struggle to get a few hours of sleep each night so I can't see your posts. If I need to get in, don't worry, the Harrisonburg Police Department knows where I am!

The latter part of the season is often filled with many outdoor events and activities. Spring sports are also starting, so I hope to see many of your students there. Encourage your students to participate and participate if they don't. The Dukes Weekly and Events Calendar is a great way to find out about upcoming events. The rest of the semester will fly by and before you know it, we'll be joining the families of the Class of 2022 to celebrate their graduation and scholarships.

Your students can invite their siblings/relatives/friends to Sibling Day! Organized by the Parent Liaison Office, Sibs & Kids Day is a day of fun and educational events and activities for students aged 12 to 17 and their guests to share information about the University in the right way.

This event is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 8:00 PM. Registration is free for students and $32 for guests. Participants will receive access to various campus activities, meal tickets, a Sibs & Kids Day t-shirt and a goody bag.

A full schedule is planned, giving you and your guests plenty of opportunities to explore the campus and share the university experience. Activities include an interactive ropes course, X-Labs activities, Fun College Free Time, meals in two cafeterias, a spring football game, campus exploration and more. included. Students may enroll at least half-time (UG-6 credits and GR-5 credits) in an approved program for summer financial aid in the summer of 2022.

We use the information from both documents throughout the summer to determine eligibility for the following types of funding: • Federal Pell Grant

If students are interested in receiving a Federal Pell Grant, they must complete an application for summer aid regardless of their enrollment period. Receiving a Pell Grant in the summer does not reduce the amount of the fall and spring award. (The only exception is if the student reaches the lifetime Pell limit)

Conversely, taking out direct student loans in the summer lowers your loan requirements for the fall and spring terms. For example… juniors can borrow $7,500 for the school year, so $4,000 is used over the summer and $3,500 is spread between the fall and spring.

Earlier this month, the Sun Belt announced its 2022 football schedule. James Madison football plays 10 FBS games and one non-conference FCS game. Family Weekend is on Saturday, October 1st against Texas State! Season tickets are on sale now with an initial deadline of May 15. Season tickets offer the best seats and value for fans and include one free parking ticket per order. Single-game tickets will be available starting July 1.
